Early Childhood (Age 3–K)
Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish offers a very special program for children ages three through kindergarten. The Early Childhood Religious Education program (ECRE) introduces our preschoolers to religion through Bible stories, crafts, games and music at their own developmental levels. The children enjoy meeting others as part of the larger Christian community sharing stories about their families, celebrating the holidays together, and finding out more about God.
The ECRE program begins the first week of October. We hold classes in the school classrooms during the 9:30 a.m. Mass and our schedule follows the school calendar for the days off throughout the year. The children also have the opportunity to participate in Christmas and Easter plays/song programs during the year. Adults and high school students also co-teach the classes.
Get Involved in ECRE
There are a variety of ways parents can involved in the ECRE program. We continue to welcome new commission members to fill up the current ECRE commission. The group meets three times per year to discuss changes and improvements to the ECRE program. We also need new classroom teachers each year and would love to see more parents involved in this fun and rewarding ministry. We supply curriculum, lesson plans, and supplies. If you’re not able to commit to teaching, we welcome behind-the-scenes help as well! Please let us know how you can help.
